Glenorchy Road Repairs
- Date:
- Jul 13, 2010
Glenorchy Road repairs started this week after a 2000 tonne slip temporarily closed the road in May.
“The slip caused some pretty significant damage to the road and it will take a few weeks to restore it to its previous standard,” Queenstown Lakes District Council Transport Service Engineer Stafford Whittfield said.
The approximate $90,000 repair job will include strengthening the area below the road, installing a replacement guardrail and asphalting to repair extensive potholing.
The works will take place between 12 July and 5 August with possible minor closures during this time.
“We will try to keep closures to an absolute minimum to reduce disruption to Glenorchy Road users,” Mr Whittfield said.
“But in the name of safety we do ask that drivers follow all signage and drive to the conditions,” he said.
Road users will be given 24 hours notice of known closures.
