Four free special events for kids are coming up in Frankton, Queenstown and Wanaka, as the Summerdaze Festival continues.

This Saturday (25 January) Frankton will be buzzing with the brand new Remarkables Park Town Centre Big Picnic from 11am – 2pm at the Red Barn.

With a sponge wall, games, bouncy castle, story telling, face painting, a magician, singer Craig Smith and great prizes, kids will have a ball, leaving parents free to cruise the market. There will also be a special guest appearance from Rex, the real tuatara from Kiwi Birdlife Park.

Bring a picnic or buy delectable food from the market and remember teddy bears are always welcome.

If you go down to Lake Wanaka on Sunday you’re in for a big surprise as teddy bears will be taking over the Dinosaur Park in Wanaka for a traditional Teddy Bears’ Picnic.

Fish out your best loved bear or your favourite cuddly toys, pack a picnic and join the fun from 11am – 1pm.

The Wanaka and Queenstown libraries are both hosting an evening “PJ Party in the Library” next week with special guest local singer-songwriter Anna Van Riel.

Queenstown’s event is on Tuesday 28 January and Wanaka’s is on Wednesday 29 from 7-9pm. Wear your PJs, bring a sleeping bag and teddy bear and enjoy a night-time tour of the library before snuggling down for stories, songs and a hot cocoa.

Spaces for the PJ Parties are limited so please email events@summerdaze.co.nz asap to book your places.
