Chinese New Year is a traditional Chinese holiday celebrated on the first day of the year of the Chinese calendar.
Chinese New Year is a traditional Chinese holiday celebrated on the first day of the year of the Chinese calendar. Arrowtown, which has heritage links to China dating from the goldmining era, will be decorated with traditional lanterns for the start of the Chinese New Year (Year of the Horse) 31 January – 15 February 2014. A range of activities including Tai Chi classes, a Chinese-inspired New Zealand movie and brush painting workshops have been organised for the celebrations on Friday 31 January and are also part of the Summerdaze festival.

Bookings: Dorothy Browns 442 1964 - Brush painting workshops discover the art of Chinese brush painting in celebration of Chinese New Year with Stan Chan, your entertaining and informative tutor. Workshops are 90 minutes long and numbers are limited so booking essential. Suitable for adults and children aged 8+ (or accompanied by an adult if younger). Where: Arrowtown Athenaeum Hall

Kids aged between 6-13 are invited to come spend a day at the Museum to help celebrate Chinese New Year. We’ll have themed activities to welcome in the Year of the Horse!
