Hensman Road Upgrade

- Date:
- Aug 26, 2011
An upgrade of Hensman Road is set to begin on Monday 5 September. The work involves replacing sections of kerb, installation of traffic calming features and resealing the roadway from the Panorama Terrace intersection through to the intersection with Edinburgh Drive and Belfast Terrace.
Queenstown Lakes District Council project manager Steve Hewland said while they would endeavour to keep disruption to a minimum, there would be one lane closures and parking restrictions in place at certain times.
“The road will also be closed to through traffic but not residents from Monday 3rd October to Saturday 8th October and a diversion will be in place,” he said.
“Residents will still be able to access their properties but there will be no through route for the general public.”
The work, which is scheduled to finish at the end of November, is not subject to the roadworks moratorium applied for the Rugby World Cup period, which only affects the Queenstown CBD.
Meanwhile the Infrastructure Committee will consider the rehabilitation of Panorama Terrace at its September meeting.
