- Date:
- Apr 12, 2018
Wanaka Community Board Chairwoman Rachel Brown announced today she has resigned from her position as Chairwoman.
“Rachel tendered her resignation to the Chief Executive yesterday after four and a half years holding the reins. I am happy to say that Rachel has agreed to continue to serve on the Board for the remainder of the term,” QLDC Mayor Jim Boult said.
“I respect Rachel’s decision that she considers she has reached a point where she feels she can be more effective as a board member. I know the decision was not taken lightly and I am delighted that Rachel will continue to serve her community. Her knowledge and experience of local matters will be essential for a positive transition at a time when Wanaka has some big challenges ahead.”
At today’s meeting, the Wanaka Community Board elected Councillor Quentin Smith and Board Member Ruth Harrison to the roles of Chairman and Deputy Chair.
Mayor Boult paid tribute to Ms Brown for her diligent and dedicated commitment to serve her community.
“It is reassuring to know that Rachel will be there to support the new Chair and Deputy in their new roles. I also very much look forward to working with Quentin and Ruth,” said Mayor Boult.
