Swimmers will be advised not to swim on a section of Frankton Beach, Lake Wakatipu after a minor pollution spill today. Tree roots caused a sewer to overflow at Lake Avenue, Frankton.

Approximately 5000 litres of waste water entered into the stormwater system, with some making its way onto Frankton Beach. The beach has been disinfected and signage put in place as a precaution, advising swimmers to avoid the immediate area. Testing will be conducted this afternoon and tomorrow to confirm the spill has dissipated
