District Plan Submissions
- Date:
- Nov 5, 2015
Submissions on the Queenstown Lakes District Plan have closed with 837 received from all over the District.
There was a strong response from a cross section of the community on a range of different topics.
While it is early days for staff reviewing submissions, some of the key themes coming through to date include:
- A significant number of submissions seek rezoning of land in rural areas
- A mix of views in support and opposition of proposed residential provisions.
- Informal airports gathered a lot of interest
- The overall structure and layout of the Plan appears to be supported
- Mapping Outstanding Natural Landscapes: general acceptance of the idea, but different perspectives on the locations of the landscape lines
“We’d like to thank everyone who has taken the time to get involved in this important process,” District Plan Manager Matthew Paetz said.
Council staff are now processing and summarising the decisions requested through submissions and will publicly notify them for further submissions in December. Hearings are scheduled to start in February 2016.
