Fire Danger Across Queenstown Lakes District "Extreme"
- Date:
- Jan 16, 2015
We’re heading into another warm and windy weekend and the fire danger is “Extreme” across the whole of the Queenstown Lakes District.
That means if you’re planning outdoor activities, like picnics, boating trips or a long walk in the hills, please remember that there’s a total fire ban right across the district.
Gas BBQs and gas cookers are the only way to cook food or boil the billy outdoors. Smokers are asked to be particularly careful with matches and cigarette butts.
Anyone in a rural area using mowers, chainsaws or other machinery is asked to watch for sparks.
All fire permits have been suspended.
If you see smoke anywhere, please call 111 straight away.
