QLDC approves Convention Centre in Central Queenstown

The Queenstown Lakes District Council has today resolved to approve the development of a convention centre in central Queenstown, subject to four conditions:

  • Securing the capital funding required to construct the facility, in addition to the $32.5m proposed by way of Council contribution
  • Amending the Long Term Plan to incorporate proposed costs associated with the convention centre development
  • Council considering alternative ratings models include options for an expanded CBD business zone and reduced residential contributions, and approving a final rating funding model, and
  • The Council approving a preferred operating model.
