Wanaka Open Day to Discuss Residential Plan Change
- Date:
- Oct 13, 2004
The first plan change resulting from the Wanaka 2020 community planning process will be the subject of a public meeting this weekend (Saturday).
The Queenstown Lakes District Council is holding an information session to discuss the proposed re-zoning of rural general land bounded by Aubrey Road and Rata Street. The proposal is to re-zone the land Low Density Residential, in the Wanaka area this has a minimum lot size of 700 square metres.
The land, which is owned by 13 separate landowners (Kirimoko Group) is made up of 12 lots ranging in size from four to seven hectares and is currently referred to as the Kirimoko Block.
"The proposed plan change will be discussed at the meeting as well as its context in the Wanaka Structure Planning process," CivicCorp policy planner Alyson Schuler said.
The 2020 process and subsequently the structure plan have identified that the land is an area that can absorb additional residential development.
"The land as a collective is located close to the town centre and adjoining residential areas. In addition there is sufficient infrastructure to meet the needs of the development and geographically the land is highly suitable. More importantly the Wanaka community has indicated this area as a suitable location for additional residential development," Ms Schuler said.
The hour-long meeting will commence at 9.30am at the Wanaka Rugby Clubrooms on Saturday, October 16. Members of the Kirimoko Group are happy to take interested persons on site after the meeting.
Further information on the proposed plan change can be found on the Council website www.qldc.govt
