Wanaka Sportsfield and Recreation Strategy for Comment
- Date:
- Jul 20, 2006
The Queenstown Lakes District Council is calling for comment on the Draft Wanaka Sportsfield and Recreation Strategy, QLDC parks manager Gordon Bailey said.
"The draft strategy, which covers Wanaka, Hawea, Luggate and Albert Town is a review of existing facilities and present and future demand," Mr Bailey said.
The draft was produced in consultation with community organisations, users, schools and sports groups.
"It's an important first step towards strategically planning for the next 10 to 20 years and includes all indoor and out door facilities, including the proposed Wanaka Aquatic Centre," Mr Bailey said.
The next step would involve formulating some recommendations for the Community Board and Council, establishing costs and prioritising the work.
Copies of the draft were available at the Wanaka Council office in Ardmore Street or could be viewed on the Council website www.qldc.govt.nz.
Comments could be dropped at the Wanaka Council office or sent to Wanaka Sports and Recreation Strategy, Private Bag 50072, Queenstown or emailed to jessicah@qldc.govt.nz
"I really recommend Wanaka residents take a look at this strategy and give us some feedback. This is an important issue for the community and well worth considering," Mr Bailey said.
Comments were required to be with the Council by Monday 28 August.
