Dye Test Tomorrow

Date:
Oct 26, 2006

A harmless dye will be used to assess the Rees Street stormwater system at Queenstown tomorrow, engineer Martin O'Malley said.

"This is part of the ongoing investigation into the system, which has proved problematic during heavy rainfall," Mr O?Malley said.

Council contractor Lakes Contract Services would release the dye into the stormwater to enable engineers to trace the flow path of the water.

"It will enable us to check the integrity of the system and identify any leaks," he said.

The dye would be introduced at around 10am and would be utilised over the next two day.

"Eventually the dye will make its way into the lake but there is no cause for any alarm, the dye is an inert substance that is not harmful in any way and will dissipate pretty quickly," Mr O'Malley said.
