Awards Presented for Waste Minimisation

Work being undertaken in the community towards waste minimisation has once again been acknowledged by the Queenstown Lakes District Council.

The annual waste minimisation awards were presented by QLDC Mayor Clive Geddes at the full council meeting today (Friday).

The winners of the 2006 Waste Minimisation Awards were:

Otago Southland Waste Services Resident Category:  Edward Percy, Queenstown

CivicCorp Business Category:  Nomad Safaris, Queenstown

Wakatipu Waste Recyclers Young Recycler:  Mount Aspiring College, Wanaka

"It's always a pleasure to present awards to members of the community who work hard to help make this district a sustainable place to live," Queenstown Lakes District Council Mayor Clive Geddes said.

Winners each received a cheque for $500 to put towards implementing their ideas to reduce, reuse and recycle.
