Council Seeking Potential Directors

Date:
Jan 15, 2007

Expressions of interest are now being sought for Directors of a proposed Regulatory Services Company to deliver resource management and regulatory services in the Queenstown Lakes District.

Council's contract with current regulatory contractor, CivicCorp, will expire on 30 June 2008.  In the meantime, council was consulting with the community on a proposal to form a council controlled organisation to deliver these services.

"On the assumption that the proposal is successful, we would now like to invite expressions of interest from suitable parties who are keen to become directors of the new company", QLDC chief executive Duncan Field said.

Potential directors would require a range of skills including professional expertise in the regulatory field, the ability to develop and implement smart technologies, a strong customer focus and an awareness of modern issues affecting regulatory services such as urban design.

"Persons considering registering their interest should keep in mind that the proposal is currently the subject of consultation and may not proceed in the current or any other form," Mr Field said.

The council had already established clear guidelines for the potential board.

"Council will appoint a board that can clearly communicate the strategic direction and performance measures for the business and provide strong accountability back to council in a transparent manner," Mr Field said.

The position statement and formal proposal will be available on the council website from 16 January 2007.

Expressions of interest should be received by 4pm, Monday 5 February 2007.
