Proposed Plan Change for Cardrona Village
- Date:
- Jan 29, 2007
A feedback session will be held in February to discuss a further proposed Plan Change for Cardrona, Queenstown Lakes District Council senior policy analyst Ralph Henderson said.
The purpose of the Plan Change was to change provisions of the District Plan zone at the Cardrona Village, in line with feedback from the community.
"The community felt the zoning could be more sympathetic with the environment. That is the focus, as opposed to increasing the area of the zone," Mr Henderson said.
Last year the council began investigating a Plan Change to relocate an existing zone at the base of the Cardrona ski area to a terrace on Mount Cardrona Station, above the road. A successful open day was held with regards that proposal late last year. Comments on the draft discussion document for Mount Cardrona Station closed last week.
It was equally important that residents got involved in the second Plan Change process.
"Our aim is to work towards achieving the outcomes identified in the 2003 Cardrona Community Plan, and to help facilitate a style of development more suitable for the environment and heritage of Cardrona," Mr Henderson said.
After the feedback session a draft discussion document would be prepared on the second Plan Change, based on the issues identified by the community and also possible amendments to the provisions of the existing zone.
"We expect to release the draft discussion document for the Cardrona Village for public comment in early April," Mr Henderson said.
The session would be held on Tuesday, 13 February at the Cardrona Hall from 7pm, and would be attended by representatives of the Cardrona Community Association, council staff, councillors and members of the project team.
"I urge all residents and ratepayers of Cardrona to attend the session and be involved in the planning process at an early stage," he said.
