New Offices for Queenstown Chamber - Generosity Acknowledged
- Date:
- Aug 9, 2007
The generosity of some key Queenstown players has resulted in the Queenstown Chamber of Commerce setting up a dedicated office in the heart of Queenstown, QCC chief executive Christine (Christie) Clark said.
"Essentially there was a cash shortfall between what the Chamber could pay, in terms of rent, and the market rate," she said.
The Queenstown Lakes District Council, property owner Warren Cooper and Lakes Property Services offered their assistance to get the Chamber housed.
"Through support from these three parties we have been able to move to the new premises at the Chamber Suites in Stanley Street," Ms Clark said.
The new space would allow the Chamber to grow and provide improved services to new and existing members.
"We now have a dedicated space where business people can meet with me in confidence and talk through ideas, issues or concerns. It means we can get to the heart of the matter and act quickly," she said.
The experience would be novel for Chamber members - who previously attended meetings in a coffee shop.
"We are extremely grateful for this important contribution to the health of the local business community," she said.
The new office also allowed a base for a long overdue additional pair of hands.
"I would be very interested in talking to anyone that would like to contribute on a voluntary part-time basis to assist with the Chamber," Ms Clark said.
