Three Big Plan Changes on Agenda
- Date:
- Sep 10, 2007
The number of Plan Changes underway in the Queenstown Lakes District is an indication of the need to constantly change and improve the District Plan, QLDC general manager policy and planning Philip Pannett said.
"It's an extremely busy agenda for this week's strategy committee meeting with seven Plan Changes to be discussed, three of which are very significant, two with district-wide implications," Mr Pannett said.
Visitor accommodation, affordable and community housing and the Wanaka oxidation ponds were all to be considered by the committee.
The Affordable and Community Housing Plan Change proposed that new zonings and resource consent applications that seek an increase in density would be assessed as to their ability to facilitate affordable housing. The Visitor Accommodation Plan Change proposed to allow the rental of homes for a 29-day period and the Ballantyne Road Oxidation Pond Plan Change, proposed to meet a demand for yard-based industrial and mixed business activities.
"If the strategy committee choose to adopt the recommendations then these three Plan Changes will go on to be considered for adoption by the full council, later this month, which will then lead to them being notified and submissions being sought," Mr Pannett said.
Other Plan Changes being considered by the committee on Wednesday were the Trails Plan Change, Wanaka Airport Plan Change, Makarora Lifestyle Zone and the Definition of Ground Level Plan Change.
