Last Chance to Submit on Smoke Bylaw
- Date:
- Feb 19, 2008
Submissions on a draft Fire and Smoke Prevention bylaw close on February 22 (Friday).
"This week is the last chance to have your say on the draft bylaw," Queenstown Lakes District Council principal rural fire officer Gordon Bailey said.
The council needed to revisit the current bylaw because new growth areas are not covered and inconsistencies have crept in, he said.
The new bylaw covers the whole district and seeks to restrict fire only to land zoned rural general, as well as ensuring unkempt sections don't become a fire risk.
The draft bylaw was available on the council website, council offices and public libraries district-wide.
