Queenstown Airport Corporation director appointments
- Date:
- Jun 20, 2008
The Queenstown Lakes District Council has reappointed Mark Taylor as director and chairman of the Queenstown Airport Corporation for a further period of five-years.
The Queenstown Lakes District Council, which owns the airport, considered and approved a number of recommendations from the board during the full council meeting of June 10.
"We are delighted to reappoint Mr Taylor who has shown strong leadership during a period of transition and growth at the airport," QLDC Mayor Clive Geddes said.
The council also approved the reappointment of all other directors noting that Duncan Fea was reappointed for another two-year period, while long standing director Bill Walker would retire next year.
"Bill Walker's contribution to the success of Queenstown Airport has been outstanding. He was intimately involved in what has been a major upgrade undertaking and as a director he will be hard to replace," Mr Geddes said.
The council agreed that expressions of interest should be called for to find a replacement director for Mr Walker and that the appointment should be made to the board this year to allow for a handover period.
The board would contain five members rather than the current membership of four in the interim.
Finally the council agreed with the recommendation that a change be made to the constitution to increase the term of directors to four-years.
